This week (April 15-21) is National Library Week, an observance celebrating the contributions of our country's libraries and librarians. What better time to demonstrate the many reasons why you love your library!

In honor of National Library Week 2007, Thomson Gale is launching librareo (http://www.gale.com/librareo), an online community for libraries and the people who love them. To make certain librareo gets off to a great start, from April 15 until the end of June, librareo will host a very unique contest - the "I Love my Library" video contest.

About the "I Love my Library" Video Contest

It's fun, it's simple and it could be the best way ever to express your affection for libraries, whether you're a librarian, a library user or just a library lover! Make a video no shorter than 30 seconds but no longer than two- minutes professing a deep, abiding love of libraries, librarians and those who depend on them. Load the video to the librareo group on YouTube before midnight EST on Friday, May 25, 2007. By June 1, 2007 Thomson Gale judges will determine the top five finalists based on creativity, unique portrayal of love for libraries and the resources they provide, and overall likeability. The top five videos will be featured on http://www.gale.com/librareo for a nationwide vote that will be held from June 1-11, 2007. The video with the most votes wins the Grand Prize!

View complete contest rules and video samples at http://www.gale.com/librareo.

$10,000 for You and Your Library!

The Grand Prize is $10,000 - $5,000 will be awarded to a library the winner designates as the recipient; the other $5,000 will be awarded to the winner. The winning video also will be shown at a special screening held during the American Library Association's Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. in June, 2007.

You can submit as many videos as you like, provided each entry is entirely original.

In addition to the "I Love my Library" video contest, Thomson Gale is offering open access to all its databases during National Library Week (April 15-21). Visit http://www.accessmylibrary.com/libraryweek to explore more than 100 databases containing such valuable resources as journal articles, eBooks, general reference works and primary sources on topics ranging from health and wellness to literature to world history.
