The American Legion Unites with RecruitMilitary To Promote Veteran Career Fairs Nationwide

The American Legion has joined forces with the military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary, LLC, to promote and help deliver more than 40 high-impact veteran career fairs throughout the United States in 2007. RecruitMilitary Career Fairs are free of charge to all veterans, personnel who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, and military spouses.

The American Legion, the world's largest veterans organization with 2.7 million members, will help RecruitMilitary by reaching out to veteran-friendly employers - from Corporate America to government agencies - who actively seek out and hire veteran job candidates. The American Legion also will promote the fairs to job seekers among its own membership and the veteran community at large. The American Legion emblem will appear in RecruitMilitary Career Fair advertising and marketing documents, both print and electronic, and on the covers of the Program Guides given to all job seekers who attend the events. The American Legion also will have booth space at the events.

"Employers throughout the country realize they are getting a superior employee or manager when they hire a veteran," American Legion National Commander Paul A. Morin said. "Discipline, teamwork, goal achievement, and confidence are among the many qualities the military experience instills. Our job is to connect those qualities with employers who appreciate them. That's exactly what this partnership does."

So far in 2007, RecruitMilitary has presented seven career fairs. There are more than 38 military career fairs remaining in 2007. At those earlier events, an average of more than 30 corporate employers, law-enforcement agencies and other government employers, and educational institutions have interviewed hundreds of job seekers. Three career fairs are set for this month--at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston on April 5, the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa on April 12, and the East Club Lounge at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati on April 26. RecruitMilitary, based in Cincinnati, is veteran-owned, veteran-operated, and veteran-advised. All of the company's owners, officers, account executives, and recruiters are veterans or active or former reservists. The company was founded in 1998.

"All of us at RecruitMilitary are delighted that The American Legion has joined our Career Fair team," said Drew Myers, President of RecruitMilitary and formerly a Captain in the Marine Corps. "The Legion has done so many great things for America down through the years--sponsoring a wide variety of youth activities, including American Legion Baseball, Boys State and Boys Nation, and the High School Oratorical Contest--and advocating tirelessly in the halls of government on behalf of the nation's veterans. It's just great to be associated with The American Legion."

The RecruitMilitary Career Fair team also includes the President's National Hire Veterans Committee (HireVets First), and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN). The President's National Hire Veterans Committee was created by Congress in 2002 as part of the Department of Labor to develop awareness among employers of the outstanding attributes of men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life. The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network was founded in 2004 to provide career opportunities and job portability for military spouses. The organization is made up of military spouses, caregivers to war wounded, and retired military personnel. The President and founder is Deb Kloeppel, herself a military spouse.

RecruitMilitary also offers subscriptions to its database of self-registered job seekers who have military backgrounds, currently numbering more than 146,000, at its Web site, www.recruitmilitary.com ; advertising in online and print media; and contingency and retained hiring services. The company mails more than 53,000 copies of a quarterly, print newsletter called Incoming! to 230 military bases throughout the world for distribution to transitioning personnel. Employers use Incoming! to advertise jobs to those personnel.
